Meet Tiffany Ashdown
I am running as an independent candidate for Hobart City Council because I believe that our future as an inclusive, resilient city depends on everyone having a voice at the Council table.
The issues I’m campaigning on — women’s rights and equality, disability rights and inclusion, and environmental sustainability — benefit all of us, and need a strong, committed champion in Council.
As an independent, I answer to my community and no one else. My positions are my own.
Women's Rights & Equality
Women and girls deserve safe communities, equal representation, and a council that considers how its decisions affect them. I will push for well-lit public spaces, more support for family and domestic violence prevention, and steps that can lower women’s cost of living. Affordable housing, safe streets and families – these are particularly important for women, but they’re good for the whole community.
Accessibility & Inclusion
Accessibility for people with disability — lifetime, acquired or age-related — shouldn’t be something Hobart gets around to eventually. I will push for accessible infrastructure, inclusive council processes, and genuine consultation with the community – because a city that works for everyone works better for all of us.
Sustainable Growth
We shouldn’t have to choose between embracing innovation and protecting our environment. I am committed to protecting green spaces, reducing the city’s emissions footprint, and ensuring development decisions reflect long-term environmental stewardship – not just short-term gain.
